TheCPAandCPDSeriesarehighlyreliablepowersuppliesforCompactPCI?systems,whichareincreasinglyusedincommunications,industrial,military,aerospace,andotherapplications.Thesepowersuppliesofferhighpowerdensityinplug-inmodulesthatmeettherequirementsofthePICMG?powerinterfacespecificationforCompactPCI?systems.TheconvertersusethepatentedEDGETMtechnologyandprovideimportantadvantagessuchasflexibleoutputpower,extremelyhighefficiency,excellentreliability,fullinput-to-outputisolation,negligibleinrushcurrent,hot-swapcapability,softstart,andovertemperatureprotection.Theinputisprotectedbyatransientsuppressor(varistor)againstsurgesandtransientsoccurringonthesourcelinesandcoveranoperatinginputvoltagerangefromeither90to264VACor36to75VDC.Theoutputsareprotectedagainstcontinuousoverload,open-circuit,andshort-circuit.Fulln+1redundantoperatingmodeismadepossiblebyintegratedORingFETsorORingdiodes.Whenseveralconvertersareconnectedinparallel,asingle-wireconnectionbetweenconvertersensurescurrentsharing.Theconvertersaredesignedastwoorthreeseparateforwardconverterswithfixedswitchingfrequencyandsynchronousrectifiersattheiroutput.LEDsonthefrontpanelandvariouswarningsignalsdisplaythestatusoftheconverter.ThealuminumcaseactsasaheatsinkandasanRFIshield.Itisdesignedforverticalinsertioninto19"racksystems,butitcanalsobemountedinanyotherposition,aslongasthenecessaryairflowisensured.Theconnectorisa47-pintypefromPositronicorsimilar.Severaloptionsareavailabletomeetdifferentrequirements.
