虽然不是第一场专拍，但2003年著名收藏家王世襄先生在中国嘉德拍卖的那31件宣德炉，确实以1179.2万元的价格引起了宣德炉的市场热潮。就这一批宣炉中的20件，在2010年匡时秋季拍卖会“王世襄藏铜炉”专场，成交额达到9844.8万元，成交率100%。其中，王世襄先生旧藏的一座“明代冲天耳金片三足铜炉”，在2003年中国嘉德专场时以166.1万元成交，在2010年北京匡时秋拍时则以1512万元成交，在7年时间内增值9倍。在2010年的拍卖市场上，有3件宣德炉的成交价格超过1000万元。

　　现在的宣德炉市场，有些极品的价格还没到位，部分中品的价位也没到位，低档的到现在为止基本上不会有太大的浮动。宣德炉的投资基本上二三十年内是不会达到它应有的价值的，比方说，现在拿宣德时期的一个瓷器，比如一个瓷盘瓷碗，都是大几百万，甚至过千万。但是宣德炉只有五件过千万的，大部分还没有，帝王用的宣德炉现在才百万，中品的价位才几十万。

　　作为投资的话，必须买老的买好的，但是在买好的之前应该多买些普品玩玩，比如皮色没有那么漂亮，但是器型和样子还是经典的。宣德炉最妙妙在皮色，普品自己烧久了皮色也能变得漂亮。另外，即便是普品也尽量买规规矩矩的，传统的代表器型，这样的东西玩几年也会增值。
