Stainless steel polishing pits/Customers complained that the batch of stainless steel coils purchased had slight pits on the surface during polishing. By first checking, the batch of stainless steel is 304 material 2B surface, with a thickness of 1.0mm, which is the first-class material of regular large steel mills. There are no surface defects visible on the surface of the raw material, and there are slight pits on the polished workpiece, which are densely distributed. After sampling and analysis, the shape of the pits is irregular, mainly in the form of strips, and the size of the pits is relatively small. Through chemical analysis, Fe, Cr, 0 are the main elements in the composition. According to preliminary judgment, the possible reason for the defect is that the scale produced during the annealing process is relatively thick, and there are tiny residues during the pickling process. After SPM smoothing, the inspectors could not find it with naked eyes during the finishing process, which was exposed during the grinding and polishing process, forming pitting defects. You can eliminate these pits by increasing the amount of grinding.
