Since the United States announced high import tariffs on a range of Chinese commodities, the prices of many risky assets in the capital market have fallen. In recent years, China's stainless steel output has continued to increase, and its export volume has also continued to increase in recent years. As stainless steel products are exported, sheet and strip products account for about 80%, but therefore, other countries' trade frictions on China's stainless steel products have gradually increase. As of 2017, the growth rate of domestic stainless steel exports continued to slow by 12 percentage points to 3.5%. Stainless steel products exported to the United States continue to be low. As the trade friction between China and the United States gradually heats up, not only will the U.S. anti-dumping policy on Chinese stainless steel products continue, but other countries may also continue to increase their anti-dumping investigations on Chinese stainless steel, which is detrimental to the export of stainless steel products. According to customs statistics, from January to October 2018, China's total stainless steel exports were about 3.409 million tons, an increase of 93,000 tons or 2.8% year-on-year. In October, stainless steel exports were 278,000 tons (a new low during the year), a decrease of 36,000 tons from the previous month, a decrease of 11.5%; an increase of 0.5 million tons from the same period last year, an increase of 1.9%. With the sudden drop in exports to major regions (South Korea and Taiwan), the export situation is not optimistic.
