① Strengthen the reform of metal technology such as stainless steel and replace it with non-toxic and low-toxic substances. Use low chromium purification or use trivalent chromium instead of hexavalent chromium for electroplating to reduce hexavalent chromium emissions.②Recycling and comprehensive utilization of chromium-containing waste water, waste residue and waste gas, ion exchange method, electrolysis method, activated carbon adsorption method, drug reduction method, and comprehensive utilization of chromium-containing waste residue can be used to achieve no or little pollution to the environment.③ Formulate sanitary standards for chromium compounds. China’s recently released Surface Water Environmental Quality Standards (GB3838-83) stipulates that the first-level standard of hexavalent chromium ≤0.01mg/L, the second-level standard ≤0.02mg/L, and the third-level standard ≤0.05mg/L. The maximum allowable concentration of hexavalent chromium in drinking water is 0.05mg/L. The maximum allowable concentration of hexavalent chromium in the atmosphere of the residential area is 0.0015mg/m3. Wastewater, waste residue and waste gas emission standards stipulate that the maximum allowable discharge concentration of hexavalent chromium in industrial wastewater is 0.5mg/L; hexavalent chromium in farmland irrigation water shall not exceed 0.1mg/L. For the chromium-containing waste residue, a parking place with waterproof and anti-seepage measures must be set up, and it is forbidden to bury underground or discharge into surface water.
