工业上通常是在氧化铝、氧化硅一氧化铝之类的硅铝催化剂存在下，将甲醇与氨连续反应来制造甲胺。反应一般是在高压和300～500℃温度范围内，在气相中进行。反应产物一甲胺、二甲胺和三甲胺分布接近热力学平衡组成，三甲胺含量最高，一甲胺和二甲胺较低，这类催化剂一般称为平衡型催化剂。由于二甲胺在工业上广泛用作化学中间体，因此，甲醇或二甲醚胺化反应的最主要目的产物是二甲胺。为提高二甲胺产量、降低三甲胺产量，工业上通常采用将多余的三甲胺进行循环、调整原料氮/碳比和应用改进的催化剂。

In industry, methanol is usually continuously reacted with ammonia to produce methylamine in the presence of silicon aluminum catalysts such as alumina and silica alumina. The reaction is generally carried out in the gas phase under high pressure and a temperature range of 300-500 ℃. The distribution of reaction products such as monomethylamine, dimethylamine, and trimethylamine is close to thermodynamic equilibrium composition, with trimethylamine having the highest content and monomethylamine and dimethylamine having lower content.
