环氧乙烷是用作聚酯PET等的原料。工业上生产环氧乙烷采用以银为催化剂。生产方法采用乙烯直接氧化法，该法根据选择的氧化剂不同而分为空气法(以空气中氧作氧化剂)及氧气法(以纯氧作氧化剂)。无论空气法或氧气法，所用催化剂的初始选择性均为80～83％。采用氧气法时由于氧气可带入系统一部分氩等惰性气体。副反应是乙烯直接氧化生成二氧化碳，因此，氩等惰性气体与二氧化碳在循环气中造成累积，超过一定含量时，就要影响催化剂的活性与选择性。

　　Ethylene oxide is used as a raw material for polyester, PET, and other materials. The industrial production of ethylene oxide uses silver as a catalyst. The production method adopts ethylene direct oxidation method, which is divided into air method (using oxygen in the air as the oxidant) and oxygen method (using pure oxygen as the oxidant) according to the selected oxidant.
