玛瑙也作码瑙、马瑙、马脑，是玉髓类矿物的一种，经常是混有蛋白石和隐晶质石英的纹带状块体，摩氏硬度7，密度2.6-2.7克每立方厘米，色彩有层次，半透明至不透明。常做饰物或玩赏用。古代陪葬物中常可见到成串的玛瑙。
